Pullover Shirt

What is the difference between une shirt and UN move to French?
My French book is really not helpful. He says, shirt means "shirt" and moving means "sweater" but this is really a bad definition, because we really never used the word "sweater". Therefore translate his hard. Is a "sweater" just buttons and a shirt ("Shirt") does, or is a "sweater" a sweater or something? At least where I am, "T-Shirt" is working for pretty much everything. Would this work in French, too?
Now a T-shirt (Une shirt) would be a T-shirt with buttons and collar, no T-shirt or casual top. Shirts are more formal. Yes, moving means sweater, which is a bridge or as I assume you're American a sweater. If you wanted T-Shirt in French would say "un T-Shirt 'say Hope that helped.)
