How do I keep the color of my dark jeans?

I bought a new pair of expensive, high-quality jeans. The laundry is a semi-dark with some Fading in the front. Jeans usually wash my others to a lighter blue, I do not like. I want to keep the color of my new jeans forever! How can I do this? Wash inside out is not good enough. I hear washing in vinegar is good? Does it work? Is it screw up the quality and softness of the jeans? As much vinegar should I use?
