How much does 97% cotton/3% spandex stretch?

I just bought some shorts for summer and am a little concerned they will stretch out during wear. This is a problem with bottoms for me. But if I buy a smaller size, they are usually too tight to even attempt to wear. How much will a 97% cotton, 3% spandex blend stretch out? I’m hoping not much because I like them as it but I need to know before I take the tags off. Thank you!

try wearing them around the house for a while (with the tags on) to see if they stretch out.
